Are You Looking for Outpatient Stroke Rehab Near You?

Therafit Rehab is an Outpatient Stroke Rehab Facility and Neurological Therapy Clinic serving greater Belford, Colts Neck, Holmdel, Long Branch, Neptune, and Red Bank, that specializes in the treatment of strokes and offers state-of-the-art adaptive equipment and one-on-one (1 on 1) sessions with a physical therapist, occupational therapist, and speech therapist near you to help stroke patients become more active, mobile, and independent — in a supportive environment, without drugs and without surgery.

Our therapy program includes stretching, strengthening, patterning (a form of exercise that helps the muscles remember movement), and gait training — we have gait trainers and body-weight support systems to help you walk even if you can’t. We also employ The Quadriciser, a patterning and strengthening device used to help your muscles’ memory.

We specialize in the treatment of strokes, using activity-based physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy. Our therapists are experienced in therapy for neurological conditions. We have helped many people just like you!

AND, WE ACCEPT MOST INSURANCE PLANS.

We Specialize in Stroke Recovery

If you’re having difficulty walking because of fatigue, lack of strength, or your toes are having trouble clearing the ground, it can be frustrating. But not doing anything about it will only result in it getting worse. Studies have shown that repetitive motion can increase neuroplasticity and trigger muscle memory. That means that when you keep doing it and keep pressing on, your muscles remember how to perform.

We are gait experts, meaning we specialize in observing gait (walking) and then strengthening the muscles needed to correct the problems or symptoms we observe. And while some muscles might need strengthened, others might just need to be taught controlled, coordinated, and consistent movements. We have been doing it for 15 years and are very specialized to help you get back to doing the things you love.

Does Hearing “You Hit a Plateau” Frustrate You?

Most people that have been in physical, occupational, or speech therapy for a stroke have been told, “You hit a plateau. It’s time to discharge.” Then when told you need “another round” of therapy, you are left feeling hopeless — therapy seems pointless. Have you ever thought to yourself…

“What’s the point of even trying if I am never going to get better?”

Does That Sound Like You?

If you’re reading this you are clearly interested in bettering yourself and getting back to the things you used to do. If you’re like all the other people that we have helped get back to doing the things they love, then right now you might feel hopeless. Like the system has failed you. And that is because it has!

Doctors are restricted in the amount of time they can spend with you because of the current health care systems and large corporate restrictions. And there is no one else to fill the gap to get you the support and help you need. Doctors are forced to refer to other large corporate clinics that further the headaches and broaden the lack of support.

Mill-like therapy clinics require therapists to see multiple patients at once, and you’re left sitting on a therapy mat table or exercise bike doing pointless exercises that never seem to really help.

How Can Choosing Therafit Rehab Help You Recover from Your Stroke?

Well, here is our 3-step therapy program.

Identify with an Initial Evaluation

Before we start any type of treatment, we need to identify the root problem. This is the most crucial part of any recovery! So many times the underlying problem is not identified correctly. Our providers will help determine the root cause of the problem!

Solve with a Treatment Plan

Once our therapist identifies the root cause of your problem, we will begin working on the solution. We have numerous revolutionary treatment techniques to improve overall function and to get you back to doing what you love to do.

Maintain Improved Health

Achieving your goal is awesome, but “How do I maintain it?” is one of our most frequently asked questions. The goal during this phase is to create a program that you can do from home OR start a maintenance therapy program where we can help prevent a regression.

Our Promise

Being a privately owned facility we believe that one-on-one time with a patient is the most important thing that we can give. And it is this one-on-one devoted attention that allows us to see the amazing results we do! In a system where everyone is trying to push you out of the door, we welcome you and embrace your time.

This is a “No-Plateau” Zone!

Yes, You Read That Correctly…

Medicare released a Maintenance Therapy Program. In this program, therapists can actually see you to maintain your current status or abilities. It is no longer based on PROGRESS now, rather Skilled and Medically Necessary Therapy. Meaning that as long as therapy is skilled and medically necessary to prevent a decline in condition, we can continue therapy regardless of progress towards a goal.

BUT… Many therapists DO NOT know this or even know how to bill for it. So instead, they still discharge patients due to a lack of progress towards a certain goal. They tell them:

“You have hit a plateau. We need to discharge you. Here are some exercises you can do at home.”

Tired of pointless exercise recommendations?

We also relate our therapy goals to specific things that you want to get back to doing. Then we match our treatments specifically to those goals. This is what makes therapy worth it to you. We will not just tell you, “Perform 2 sets of leg extensions at 10 reps with both legs,” then leave you to do them. Instead, if it is getting harder to walk around the grocery store or reach up to the top cabinet to put dishes away, we help you work specifically on those things. We take you through the balance, endurance, strength, and flexibility to be able to do all those tasks.

Furthermore, most of the time we are working towards controlled, coordinated, and intentional movements. This usually doesn’t even require strength! Rather it involves practicing the movements and making sure the muscle has the flexibility to move the way we need it to. Sometimes it takes a while and lots of practice to get the movements down.

Chances are you have also been told things like, “You will never be able to do that again,” or “You will always need to use the wheelchair (or walker/cane).” That’s simply not always TRUE.

Here are Just a Few Things Our Therapists Can Do for You:

Walk with better balance and control.

Help maintain energy throughout the day to avoid fatigue.

Avoiding SITTING all day long with an activity program designed for you.

Decrease the time it takes to dress, cook, clean, and shower so you can enjoy more of your day.

Master transferring or standing up from a chair.

Gain independence.

Increase muscle STRENGTH and CONTROL with the RIGHT EXERCISES.
