WESTMINSTER, Maryland — Therafit Rehab, one of the Baltimore area’s premier providers of therapeutic exercise, health and wellness programming for the disabled community, today announced it will host a free balance workshop for all ages and abilities at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25, at its therapy centers in Baltimore, Towson and Westminster, Maryland, and Middletown, New Jersey.
Therafit Rehab’s licensed physical and occupational therapists will conduct the hour-long workshop, which will provide attendees with education on fall risks, prevention and exercises to maximize safety in the home and community. This will include demonstrations and time for questions and answers regarding everyday balance concerns.
“The loss of independence is a fear many of our patients express to us. We’re happy to meet the needs of the community by hosting this educational workshop to help individuals improve their balance and walk with more confidence,” Justin Gilligan, vice president at Therafit Rehab, said.
A fall can be catastrophic for someone with a neurological condition or someone recovering from a recent injury or hospitalization. It also represents a leading cause for hospitalizations and long-term care stays.
These workshops are open to the public and intended for people of all ages who have experienced a fall or are worried about a fall. Spouses and loved ones are welcome to attend.
Advance registration is encouraged as space is limited. Register online at therafitrehab.com/balance-workshop or by calling your local Therafit Rehab.
